GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) won the 400 hurdles, lowering her program record in the event to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg in women's outdoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror recorded 39 points as a team. Mary Washington won the 10-team event with 152 points.
On a day when most of the events on the track had to be recorded by hand times due to a fully-automated timing malfunction, Lawson crossed in a time of 1:04.5, posting a converted time of 1:04.74 to lower her ECAC-qualifying time and program record from last year.
Lawson was also fourth in the 100 hurdles with a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 15.6 seconds.
Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) finished third in the 100 with a CC-qualifying time of 12.5.
Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) also finished third, hitting the CC mark in the 800 with a time of 2:22.4.
Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) rounded out point scorers on the track, placing seventh in the mile with a time of 5:45.5.
Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington [N.J.]) led the way in the field events, finishing second in the high jump with a mark of 1.57 meters.
Danielle Fatzinger (North Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) also hit a conference qualifier on the day, clearing 2.29 meters to finish seventh in the pole vault.
The Green Terror returns to action at its own Twilight Meet on Tuesday. Action begins at 4 p.m.
