FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) recorded a pair of top-two finishes to lead McDaniel at the Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington in season-opening women's outdoor track and field action on Saturday.
Lawson notched one of three wins for the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet.
Lawson won the 400 hurdles in a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 1:07.06. She also hit the CC standard in the 100 hurdles, finishing second with a time of 16.85 seconds.
Kelly Gibson (Yardley, Pa./Pennington [N.J.]) added a victory in the high jump, clearing 1.52 meters to hit the conference mark and move into fifth place on the program's all-time list.
Chloe Allen-Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) rounded out the McDaniel winners, crossing first in the 1,500 with a CC-qualifying time of 5:04.21.
Danielle Fatzinger (North Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) was second in the pole vault, clearing 2.29 meters to hit the CC-qualifying standard.
Shantae Byro (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) was fourth in the 100 with a conference-qualifying time of 13.38 second.
Sarah Lighter (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) rounded out the Green Terror competitors, finishing 14th in the 1,500 with a time of 5:53.80.
McDaniel returns to action at the Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday.
