MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md.) posted a round of 74 to win the individual title and lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Shootout in men's golf action on Tuesday.
The Green Terror, playing six in the lineup to count the top four scores, posted a round of 316 in its first action of the spring at the Fazio Course at Barefoot Golf Resort. Skidmore took the team title with a round of 311 to pace the field of seven teams and 52 golfers.
Woolford was the only McDaniel player to break 80 on the day to win his first collegiate tournament. Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) each carded rounds of 80 to finish tied for 11th.
Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) finished 17th overall with a round of 82 while Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) was 19th with his score of 83.
Andrew Gordon (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) rounded out the top six golfer with a round of 85 to place 24th.
Dominic Seelig (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) played as an individual for McDaniel and finished 32nd overall with a round of 87.
McDaniel returns north for the Gettysburg Spring Invitational on Saturday. Tee time is 1 p.m.
