GREENSPRING, Md. – Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) finished 38th overall to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) men's cross country championship hosted by Johns Hopkins at Stevenson on Saturday.
The Green Terror finished with 234 points. Haverford won its 20th title in 23 years with 25 points. Johns Hopkins finished second with 70 points.
Heilman completed the 8,000-meter distance with a personal-best time of 27:12.6 to officially join the sub-27:30 club.
Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) and Thomas Runner (Elkridge, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) followed each other across the line, finishing just two-tenths of a second apart. Jones placed 57th with a time of 28:05.5 while Runner was 58th in a time of 28:05.7 to continue the parade of season-best times for McDaniel.
Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished 82nd overall with a time of 30:10.6 while Cyrus Daroowalla (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) were 87th (30:29.7) and 88th (30:47.5), respectively.
Kyle Crouse (Keymar, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Ian Yoshioka (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) rounded out the Green Terror competitors in 90th (31:14.0) and 91st (31:43.1) places, respectively.
The Green Terror returns to action at the NCAA Mideast Regional at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Nov. 14. Action begins at 11 a.m.
