Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson jumped out to a 15-0 lead en route to a 53-20 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) football action on Saturday.
Tayahd Campbell (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) led the Green Terror (0-7, 0-6 CC) with 176 yards rushing, including a 62-yard touchdown run.
Billy Burger completed 13 of 19 passes for the Red Devils (3-4, 3-3 CC), throwing for 187 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 43 yards and a touchdown.
On the first play of the game, Anders Overhaug hauled in a 75-yard touchdown catch for a 7-0 lead just 10 seconds into the game.
After a short kick was recovered by the Red Devils, Dickinson took over at the McDaniel 35. Eight plays later, Jake Ward caught a six-yard touchdown. A bobbled snap on the PAT resulted in a Ward run for a 15-0 lead with 10:37 showing.
Five plays into McDaniel's first possession, Campbell broke a 62-yard run down the far sideline to trim the deficit to 15-7 with 8:43 remaining.
A 57-yard Cedric Madden run down the sideline set the Red Devils up at the McDaniel 25. Five plays later, Madden bounced outside for a 13-yard touchdown and 22-7 lead with 9:55 to play in the first half.
A one-yard catch by Jake Walbert in the back corner of the end zone stretched the lead to 29-7 with just 5.5 seconds to play in the first half.
Stephen Walker turned Dickinson's first possession of the second half into a 26-yard touchdown before Burger and Chris Soulas ran for touchdowns to stretch the lead to 53-7 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Perry Stefanelli (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) accounted for 62 of 64 yards on an 11-play drive, including a one-yard score to make it a 53-14 game with 12:21 to play.
A Matt Cathey (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial Regional) broke up the middle for a 22-yard touchdown to make it a 53-20 game with 8:47 showing.
Angelo Payne (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) and Matt Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) led the defense with nine tackles each.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Juniata on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
