Charvez Brooks had 122 yards receiving as the McDaniel College football team fell to Ursinus on Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium Saturday, 40-14.
The Green Terror (1-4, 0-2 CC) forced two turnovers, but were limited by eight penalties and a turnover that led to the Bears' third touchdown of the game.
Sherman completed seven passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start while Brooks had three receptions for 122 yards and one score. Brooks is the first Green Terror to go over 100 yards this season and first since
Grayson Wendel had seven catches for 103 yards at Franklin & Marshall on Nov. 1, 2025.
After Ursinus (5-0, 2-0 CC) scored on the opening drive of the game, McDaniel answered just 13 seconds later on its first play from scrimmage when Sherman connected with Brooks on a 65-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7.
Two of Brooks' three receptions went for over 40 yards as he hauled in a 42-yard reception from Sherman on 3rd-and-17 from the Green Terror 13-yard line on their third drive of the third quarter. Brooks entered the game without a catch in his first four games this season.
With the game tied at 7-7, the Bears would score 26 unanswered points to take a 33-7 lead with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter. The visitors scored a touchdown on five of their first eight drives with the other three resulting in a punt and two interceptions by sophomore
Joel Danquah.
Danquah is the second Green Terror in back-to-back game to have two interceptions after sophomore
David Smith had two interception last week against Carnegie Mellon.
The Green Terror have forced a turnover in four of their first five games this season.
Ursinus scored in all four quarters, including 19 points in the first quarter and 26 in the first half as they led 26-7 at halftime. After the Bears took a 33-7 lead, McDaniel responded with a 9-play, 80-yard drive capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass from Sherman to sophomore Isiah Walters with 57 seconds left in the third quarter.
Ursinus scored on a 7-yard run with 11:47 left in the fourth to provide the final margin.

Taevon LeGrande led the defense with eight tackles and is now tied for the most tackles in the Centennial Conference this season with 54.
McDaniel begins a two-game road trip next Saturday, October 17 when it travels to Muhlenberg for a 2 p.m. match-up with the Mules at Marino Field.
