Cressman notches pair of assists

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson scored three goals in the second half to top McDaniel 4-2 in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.

Rachel Cressman (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) had the assist on both goals for the Green Terror (6-6), helping stake the visitors to a 2-1 lead at the intermission.

Sara McVey paced the Mustangs (7-7) with two goals and an assist.

Trailing 2-1, McVey beat the keeper to the left to even the game just 6:22 into the second half.

Nearly 11 minutes later, Holli Eppley found Abigail Provost to give the hosts a one-goal advantage.

McVey added an insurance goal in the 57th minute.

On a corner in the sixth minute, Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) deflected in a Cressman shot from the top of the arc for a 1-0 lead.

Rosemarie Neiva needed just 47 second to even the game, finishing a McVey cross to the center at the 6:33 mark.

On a corner in the 33rd minute, Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) knocked in her 14th goal of the year to give Cressman her second first-half helper.

Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) made seven saves for McDaniel.

Stevenson finished with a 21-8 advantage in shots.

The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
