FAIRFAX, Va. – Kyle Dunn (Crofton, Md./South River) finished fifth in the shot put to lead McDaniel at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Dunn's throw of 13.65 meters (44-9 ½) ranks fifth in program history and is also the second-best toss of the indoor season for any Centennial Conference (CC) thrower, pacing a quintet of qualifers for the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet.
Luis Miramontes (San Jose, Calif./San Jose) finished 22nd in the same event with a CC-qualifying throw of 11.05 meters. Ian Armstong (Tallyville, Del./Brandywine) rounded out the three qualifiers in the shot put with a throw of 10.90.
Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) was 27th in the 800 with a conference-qualifying time of 2:08.31 while Jordan Birden (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) finished 45th in the 60 with a time of 7.49 seconds to round out qualifiers.
Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) placed seventh in the 500, turning in the No. 6 mark in program history with a time of 1:10.18.
Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) also added a new entry to the all-time top 10, placing 12th in the 1000 with the No. 6 time (2:40.50).
Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) was 10th in the same event (2:39.84) while John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) crossed in a time of 2:48.32.
Birden was also 26th in the long jump (5.23 meters) while Dunn was 23rd in the 1000 (3:33.13).
The Green Terror returns to action at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson on Saturday.
