Cressman notches first goal

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Nearly nine minutes after a 1-hour, 38-minute weather delay, Bridgewater broke a 1-all deadlock with a goal in the 58th minute for a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday.

Rachel Cressman (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) notched her first collegiate goal for the Green Terror (1-2), drawing the hosts even four minutes before the delay started.

Taylor Prillaman scored both goals for the Eagles (2-1), converting a pair of shots from close range.

After a scoreless first half, Prillaman collected a loose ball in front of the cage and knocked a hard shot to the backboard for a 1-0 lead at the 40:29 mark.

Just 5:25 later, Cressman responded with a rocket of her own. Off a Bayley Vohs (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) insert to the top of the arc on a corner, Cressman fired a shot through the defense and to the backboard to even the game.

Prillaman finished from close range once again with the game-winner at the 57:21 mark.

Brianna Bashore made six saves for Bridgewater while Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made five for McDaniel.

Each team took eight shots while the Green Terror finished with a 9-6 edge in penalty corners.

McDaniel returns to action at Shenandoah on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
