WESTMINSTER, Md. – Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished in the top 10 in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter races to lead McDaniel at its own Green Terror Challenge in men's cross country action on Saturday.

As a team, the Green Terror finished first of the three teams that ran complete in both races with 71 combined points. McDaniel posted a perfect score of 10 in the 3,000-meter race, winning among the three complete teams in that race. In the 5,000-meter race, the Green Terror was fourth with 61 points. Navy's Plebes scored 12 points, taking seven of the top eight spots.

Ball was third in the 3K race with a time of 10:39 and finished 10th in the 5K with a time of 18:04 and was the second McDaniel finisher in both races on the hot and humid morning.

Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) was the first collegiate finisher, placing second overall in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 10:25.

Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) finished fourth in with a time of 10:47. John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) placed fifth in a time of 10:52 while Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) was sixth in a time of 11:02.

Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished ninth in a time of 12:10.

In the 5,000-meter race, Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) finished ninth to lead McDaniel in a time of 17:59.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Salty Dog Invitational hosted by Navy on Saturday. Action begins at 11 a.m.
