Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel scored twice in a 24-second span to overcome a 1-0 deficit and take a 2-1 halftime lead en route to a 4-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.
Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) led the Green Terror (1-1) with a pair of goals, including the go-ahead marker with 2:12 to play in the opening half.
Lorraine Armstrong scored the lone goal for the Royals (0-3) off a rebound in the 18th minute.
Trailing after Armstrong put home the rebound off a Jenessa Derstine shot from the top of the arc, Bayley Vohs (Millersville, Pa./Greenwood) returned the favor on a similar play.
Off a corner in the 33rd minute, she rebounded a Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) shot-and-save on the backside post and knocked it home for the senior defender's second career goal and first since her freshman year.
Just 24 seconds later, VanNostrand scored on a hit in from the right endline to put McDaniel in front at the intermission.
In the 49th minute, VanNostrand added her second tally of the game and second marker of the season.
In the 58th minute, freshman Annie Sencindiver (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) registered her first collegiate tally, finishing a feed from classmate Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood).
Hannah Daley made 10 saves for Eastern Mennonite in goal while Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) had four stops at the other end.
McDaniel finished with a 19-11 advantage in shots and a 10-7 edge in penalty corners.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Bridgewater on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
