HARRISONBURG, Va. – Steven Tanen (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) fired a two-day score of 146 to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater in men's golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror posted a 36-hole score of 604 at Lakeview Golf Course. The team shot a round of 303 on Saturday before improving to fire a round of 301 on Sunday. Ferrum overcame a five-stroke deficit after the first round to win the 18-team tournament with a score of 583 that included a tournament-low round of 287 on Sunday.
Tanen fired an even-par 72 on Saturday before posting a round of 74 on Sunday to place fifth overall.
Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton), a week after winning his first collegiate tournament, posted a score of 149 to finish 19th. Vance matched Tanen with a round of 74 on Sunday after carding a round 75 through the first 18 holes.
Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished 32nd overall with a 36-hole score of 152. Mewhirter matched Vance with a round of 75 on Saturday before posting a score of 77 on Sunday.
Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md.) was 46th overall with a score of 157 (81-76).
James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) carded a round of 79 on Sunday after missing Saturday's round with illness.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational on Thursday. Tee time is 12:30 p.m.
