ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 60th overall to lead McDaniel to ninth-place finish at the Navy Invitational in men's cross country action on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 256 points at the primarily Division I meet. The hosts won the 10-team meet with 17 points.

Merkel finished the team's first 8K of the season in a time of 27:35.43.

Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) placed 64th overall with a time of 27:58.25 while Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was 68th with a time of 28:18.08.

John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) finished 7th (29J6.59) while Kyle Crouse (Keymar, Md./Francis Scott Key) was 89th (33:37.88).

McDaniel returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday. Action begins at 10 a.m.
