FAIRFAX, Va. – Jake Zamostny (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) recorded a pair of top-10 all-time performances to lead McDaniel at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Zamostny finished 10th in the 800, turning in a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 2:00.50 at the non-scoring meet. His time ranks fourth on the Green Terror's all-time list.
Zamostny also led off the distance medley relay, joining Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) and Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) to finish third with a time of 11:02.45. The time ranks 10th all-time.
Merkel notched the only other CC-qualifying time of the day on the track, finishing 17th in the 800 with a time of 2:02.33.
Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran), Keegan Duesterhaus (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg Day), Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Kyle Crouse (Keymar, Md./Francis Scott Key) teamed to finish third in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 9:04.03.
The same quartet also all ran in the 1,000 individually. Heilman led the group in 14th with a time of 2:47.65. Duesterhaus was 20th with a time of 2:53.46 while Ball was 21st with a time of 2:57.19. Crouse finished 27th in a time of 3:24.83.
Kurt Udseth, Jr. (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished 45th in the 200 (26.29 seconds) and 51st in the 60 (7.99).
Connor Heavner (Frederick, Md./Urbana) led the way in the field events, finishing 14th in the shot put with a CC-qualifying throw of 12.16 meters. Alex Murchison (Edgewood, Md./St. John's Prep) missed the qualifier by an inch-and-a-half, finishing 18th with a toss of 11.23 meters.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Crusader Classic hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday.
