BIG SPRING, Pa. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 131st to lead McDaniel at the 2014 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Dickinson at Big Spring High School in men's cross country action on Saturday.
As a team, the Green Terror finished 25th in the 47-team regional that included 343 runners with 791 points.
Merkel completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:31.6.
Jim Heilman (Luterville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) placed 150th overall, also breaking the 28-minute mark with a time of 27:52.2.
Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) placed 160th overall with a time of 28:01.8 while Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was 168th with a time of 28:09.7.
John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) rounded out five runners in the top 200 with a 192nd-place finish with a time of 28:29.2.
Kyle Crouse (Keymar, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) rounded out the McDaniel competitors in 276th place (30:34.1) and 317th place (33:01.7), respectively.
