HAVERFORD, Pa. – Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) finished 54th overall to lead aMcDaniel to ninth-place finish at the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) men's cross country championship hosted by Haverford on Saturday.
The Green Terror finished with 244 points. Haverford won the nine-team championship with 21 points, outdistancing Johns Hopkins by 27 points.
Merkel completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:55.38.
Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) crossed the line 58th overall with a time of 28:03.1 while Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) and Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) were 66th (28:26.9) and 68th (28:33.0), respectively.
John Alexander (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) finished 89th overall to round out the team's top five, crossing with a time of 30:38.6.
McDaniel returns to action at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional championship hosted by Dickinson at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Nov. 15. Action begins at 11 a.m.
