Vohs converts stroke

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored in the second minute en route to a 9-1 Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey victory over McDaniel on Saturday.

Bayley Vohs (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood) tallied for the Green Terror (6-3, 2-2 CC), converting a penalty stroke in the 61st minute.

Megan Keenan led the sixth-ranked Bears (8-1, 5-0 CC) with two goals and an assist while Kelsey Reed added five assists.

Reed and Danielle Stong combined to find Keenan just 1:44 into the game for a 1-0 lead.

Reed then hit Samantha Macchio, who deflected a shot off a defender's stick and in for a 2-0 lead at the 9:49 mark.

Reed and Nora Kornfeld once again combined to find Keenan for a 3-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Stephanie Cooper made it a 4-0 lead at halftime before the Bears tallied three times in a 7-minute, 25-second span for a 7-0 lead in the 59th minute.

After the Vohs penalty stroke, Devin Braken and Catherine Buczek each scored in the final 10 minutes for the final margin.

The Bears finished with advantages of 34-7 in shots and 23-3 in penalty corners.

Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made nine saves while Danielle DeSpirito had five stops.

McDaniel returns to action at home against No. 20 Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
