Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford built a 2-0 halftime lead and held on to defeat McDaniel 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) led the Green Terror (9-6, 5-3 CC) with her conference-leading 16th goal of the season. She needs just one more tally to match the conference's freshman record.
Brenna Boehman recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Fords (7-8, 3-5 CC), who kept their playoff hopes alive with the win.
Boehman found Stephanie Terrell on a corner in the 22nd minute to stake the hosts to a 1-0 lead.
Sarah Waldis then found Boehman, who hit the backboard with 25 seconds remaining in the first half for a 2-0 advantage.
Yore finished a solo run with just 5:12 to play for the final margin.
Haverford finished with an 18-11 advantage in shots, including holding outshooting McDaniel 12-2 in the decisive first half.
Caila White (Delmar, Md./Delmar) made eight saves for the Green Terror, who need one win in its final two games to secure a conference playoff spot.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Johns Hopkins on Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.
