Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel's defense allowed just one shot while the offense scored six times for a 6-0 Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey win over Swarthmore on Saturday.
Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) recorded her third hat trick of the season for the Green Terror (8-5, 4-2 CC), eclipsing Mary Lally's 1978 freshman scoring record of 13 with her 13th, 14th and 15th goals of her rookie campaign. Yore's 31 points this season is also a freshman record.
Ainsley Parrish led the Garnet (1-14, 0-7 CC) with 10 saves in goal.
Yore opened the scoring, finishing a rebound in front of the cage in the game's 12th minute.
In the 26th minute, senior Natalie Price (Elkton, Md./Elkton) tipped a ball to her left out of the air, where Annie Sencindiver (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) finished for a 2-0 advantage at the break.
Yore played a ball off a defender to stretch the lead to 3-0 in the 38th minute.
Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) shot from the left post that ricocheted off a defender's stick and in for a 4-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
Just over six minutes later, Yore finished off her hat trick, playing a ball around a defender and shooting from in front of the cage.
Erica DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) capped the scoring, finishing a rebound in the 58th minute for her first goal of the year.
McDaniel finished with a 24-1 advantage in shots and 14-4 advantage in penalty coners.
The Green Terror returns to action at Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
