Lillie finishes 13th

HERSHEY, Pa. – James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson) was the lone McDaniel player to post two rounds in the 70s, finishing tied for 13th overall with a 36-hole total of 155 to lead his team to a sixth-place finish at the Hershey Cup in men's golf action on Sunday and Monday.

The Green Terror sat third after Sunday's opening round with a round of 317 before improving to shoot a round of 311 in the second round on a day where six teams in the field of 15 shot 305 or better. McDaniel finished with a 36-hole total of 628.

St. John Fisher won the tournament with a score of 604, following up a team-low 311 on Sunday with a round of 293 on Monday.

Lillie posted a round of 78 on Sunday before carding a round of 77 on Monday.

Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) fired a 77 on Sunday before posting a round of 80 on Monday to finish with a score of 157 and tied for 22nd overall.

Alex Kane (Danvers, Mass./Masconomet Regional) posted the Green Terror's low round of the tournament with a 76 on Monday to improve on his 82 from Sunday and finish tied for 24th with a score of 158.

Alex Matos (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished tied for 45th. The duo, including Tanen as an individual, matched cards both days. They followed up a Sunday round of 84 with a Monday score of 78.

Tim LaSarso Jr. (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) rounded out the McDaniel competitors, finishing 51st overall with a score of 164 (80-84).

The Green Terror returns to action at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Championship on Sunday and Monday.
