Miller breaks deadlock for 2-1 McDaniel win

SALEM, Va. – McDaniel carried play in the second half, registering a pair of goals to defeat Roanoke 2-1 in non-conference field hockey action on Friday.

Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) and Allie Miller (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) each scored their first collegiate goals for the Green Terror (5-5), who finished the second half with a 12-2 advantage in shots.

Alex DiFelice got the Maroons (2-7) on the board in the 22nd minute, scoring on one of the hosts' two first-half shots.

VanNostrand finished into the left side from Danielle DeColli (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) nearly 10 minutes into the second half to knot the game.

In the 59th minute, Miller tallied her first collegiate goal to break the deadlock.

McDaniel finished with advantages of 16-4 in shots and 10-3 in penalty corners.

The Green Terror returns to action at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
