Kane shoots 221, including record-tying 68

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Alex Kane (Danvers, Mass./Masconomet Regional) fired a 54-hole total of 221 to lead McDaniel to an 11th-place finish at the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William and Mary in men's golf action on Monday and Tuesday.

The Green Terror combined to shoot a score of 909 at the tournament that featured nine Division I teams. McDaniel's low round came in the afternoon round on Monday with a score of 301, keyed by Kane's Centennial Conference-record-tying round of 68 – the lowest round by a Green Terror golfer since Jeff Smith also posted a 68 in 2009. McDaniel opened the tournament with a score of 305 on Monday morning and concluded action with a round of 303 on Tuesday.

James Madison won the 11-team invitational at the par-71 Williamsburg Club with a three-round score of 851 (286-282-283).

In addition to his 68, Kane was also the low man for the Green Terror in the opening round with a score of 75 before concluding action with a round of 78 to finish tied for 23rd overall.

James Lillie (Garret Park, Md./Walter Johnson), Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) all finished tied for 54th overall with scores of 231.

Tanen was the most consistent of the three golfers, firing a round of 76 on Monday morning before following that with an 80 in the afternoon. He fired a score of 75 on Tuesday.

Little posted a round of 78 in the opening round before carding a score of 74 on Monday afternoon. He finished the tournament with a round of 79.

Mewhirter carded matching rounds of 79 on Monday before going low on Monday with a two-over par 73.

Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) finished 59th overall with a score of 234 (76-81-77).

The Green Terror returns to action at the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational on Thursday.
