Jones finishes 41st

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) finished 41st overall to lead McDaniel to an eighth-place finish at the 2012 Centennial Conference (CC) men's cross country championship hosted by Haverford on Saturday.

The Green Terror finished with 249 points. Haverford won its 18th title in 20 championships with 24 points.

On a five-mile course instead of the traditional 8,000 meters, Jones was the sixth freshman to cross the line, finishing with a time of 27:08.4. He is one of just six men in program history to break 27:30, ranking 12th all-time.

Peter Merkel (Ellicott City, Md./Homeschool) crossed 59th overall with a time of 27:54.6 while Calvin Ball (Westminster, Md./Westminster) was 80th with a new personal-best time of 29:06.5.

McDaniel returns to action at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Dickinson at Big Spring High School on Saturday, Nov. 10. Action begins at 11 a.m.
