Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg scored a pair of second-half goals to overcome a 1-0 halftime lead and defeat McDaniel 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Tuesday.
Lara Haab (Gladwyne, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) scored for the Green Terror (8-6, 3-4 CC), who carried play in the first half.
Ally Duggan registered the game-winner for the Bullets (10-3, 5-2 CC), who finished with a 14-9 advantage in shots that included by a 10-2 margin after halftime to snap McDaniel's four-game winning streak.
Tied at 1-all in the 58th minute, Hayward Sawers played the insert on a penalty corner to Ally Duggan, who blasted a shot from the left wing for a 2-1 lead with 12:35 to play in regulation.
Haab rebounded a Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) shot off the keeper's pads to stake the Green Terror to a 1-0 lead 20:07 into the game.
Off a corner, Erica Barbuto dribbled in from the top of the circle and finished in the top of the net to knot the game at 1-all with 14:20 to play.
Vicci Alexander (Annapolis, Md./Archbishop Spalding), the two-time reigning CC Defensive Player of the Week, finished the game with 10 saves.
McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
