LEWISBURG, Pa. – Jake Zamostny (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) finished eighth in the 1,000 meters with a program-record time of 2:37.05 to lead a small contingent of McDaniel athletes at the 2012 Bucknell Mini Meet in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Carlos Hernandez (Derwood, Md./Magruder) added a second record for the Green Terror at the non-scoring meet, finishing 13th in the weight throw with a program-record toss of 11.85 meters.
Hernandez was also 10th in the shot put, reaching the Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying standard with a hurl of 12.02 meters – a throw which ranks ninth on the Green Terror's all-time list.
Jerome Hill (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) recorded the top individual placefinish of the day, crossing fourth in the 60 with a CC-qualifying time of 7.23 seconds, which is tied for second-fastest in program history. Hill was also seventh in the 300 (36.98) and now ranks third on that all-time list.
Arthur Williams, Kyle Dunn (Crofton, Md./South River) and Jordan Birden also hit the CC mark in the 60. Williams was 10th (7.47) while Dunn and Birden were 14th (7.65) and 15th (7.69), respectively. Dunn's personal-best time cracked the all-time top 10.
Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) hit the CC standard in the 60 hurdles (9.02 seconds) and shot put (10.91 meters). His 60-meter hurdle time moves him into second place all-time.
Birden (11.92 meters), Williams (11.51) and Dunn (11.33) all qualified in the triple jump, finishing 8-9-10 in the event.
Joe Rollins (Temple Hills, Md./Surrattsville) finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 6.06 meters. Birden and Dunn also hit the CC mark, finishing 14th (5.44) and 15th (5.35), respectively. Williams just missed the standard, finishing 16th with a jump of 5.00 meters.
Chuck Kronmiller (Norristown, Pa./Methacton) finished seventh in the 200 with a time of 25.44 seconds. He was also 16th in the shot put (10.54 meters) 19th in the 60 (7.82 seconds).
Brad Heavner (Frederick, Md./Urbana) placed eighth in the 500 with a time of 1:14.98 to round out the top-10 individual finishes.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna on Sunday, Jan. 22. Action begins at 10 a.m.
