McDaniel finishes 14th at Bucknell Invitational to open fall
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Morgan Koopman (Finksburg, Md./McDonogh) shot a three-round total of 259 to lead McDaniel to a 14th-place finish at the two-day, 54-hole Bucknell Invitational in season-opening women's golf action on Sunday and Monday.
Pushed back a day because of heavy rains and then halted in the middle of the second round on Sunday due to another round of thunderstorms, the Green Terror combined to post a score of 1115 on the water-logged course, improving with each round. McDaniel opened with a 379 before scoring tallying rounds of 376 and 360, respectively, in the final two rounds.
Bucknell won the primarily Division I tournament with a three-round score of 906.
Koopman posted a round of 90 in the round completed on Sunday before carding a round of 87 over the split second-round and wrapped up her two days with a score of 82 in the final round to finish 59th.
Katherine Restrepo (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) fired a combined 283 (91-100-92) to finish tied for 71st.
Katie Pass (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led a trio of freshmen with a total of 286 (99-94-93).
Alise McNutt (Flourtown, Pa./Mount St. Joseph) carded a 287 (99-95-93) while Mary Yates (Phoenix, Md./Hereford) posted a 338 (109-118-111).
McDaniel returns to action at the NYU Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
