Bowman, McDaniel finish second at Glenmaura on tiebreakers

MOOSIC, Pa. – Greg Bowman (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) finished second after a match of cards to lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational in men's golf action on Sunday and Monday.

The Green Terror improved four shots from its first-round score of 306 to fire a round of 302 on Monday and force a sudden-victory playoff with Scranton, who shot a round of 305 on Sunday and 303 on Monday.

Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) sank a four-foot birdie putt on the 36th hole to finish his second-round score of 76 and give his team a 36-hole total of 608, matching the Royals.

The four lowest players from each team teed off on No. 18. Scranton combined to shoot a three-under par 13 on the par-4 hole behind three birdies and a par. McDaniel's foursome carded three pars and a birdie with finish with a one-under par 15, giving the individual title to the host Royals.

Bowman opened his weekend with an even-par 71 on Sunday before carding a round of 76 on Monday, finishing with a score of 147. Elizabethtown's Geoffrey Quinque also carded a 147, inverting Bowman's score by following up his first-round 76 with a second-round 71. Quinque was awarded the individual honor based on the better final-round score.

Kovalcheck finished in sixth place with a two-day total of 151, adding a 75 on Sunday to his Monday 76.

KJ Mazurek (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) finished tied for 25th with a 36-hole total of 158, carding a 77 on Sunday and 81 on Monday.

Bryan Johnson (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished with a score of 162 (83-79) to finish tied for 31st.

Logan Connaughton (Matawan, N.J./Matawan Regional), who was fighting illness on Sunday, tied for 34th overall, battling back with an even-par 71 on Monday to finish with a two-day score of 164.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Gettysburg Spring Invitational on Tuesday. Tee time is 12:30 p.m.
