McDaniel notches trio of wins at Jopson Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) recorded a pair of victories, including a program record in the 3,000, to lead McDaniel at the Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater in women's outdoor track and field action on Saturday.

Wilson turned in a time of 10.22.46 to win the 3,000, shattering the meet record by 16 seconds and the Green Terror's 20-year old program mark by nearly 12 seconds. Kendra Weible ran a time of 10:34.12 at the 1991 Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet.

Approximately 30 minutes later, Wilson doubled back and became the sixth woman in program history to break 5:00 in the 1,500 with a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 4:59.64 to win the event.

Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) recorded the third McDaniel win, winning her debut in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:11.41 – a time which not only hits the CC standard but also ranks eighth on the program's all-time performer list.

Corson and Wilson accounted for half of the 4x400-meter relay, joining Jennifer Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead) and Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) to finish second with a time of 4:25.41.

Peoples added a personal-best time of 11:13.88 in the 3,000, moving into eighth place on the all-time performer list.

The Green Terror returns to action at the Green and White Invitational hosted by York (Pa.) on Saturday.
