Distance corps opens outdoor season at Battleground Relays

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Emily Peoples (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) won the 10,000 meters to lead McDaniel at the 2011 Battleground Relays hosted by Mary Washington in women's outdoor track and field action on Friday and Saturday.

Peoples hit the Centennial Conference qualifier in the event with a time of 44:12.50.

Joy Chand (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) finished second in the same event with a time of 48:14.06.

Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keough) rounded out the Green Terror competitors, finishing second in the 3,000 with a top of 10:36.91, which was tops among Division III runners.

McDaniel returns to action at the Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday.

McDaniel Results: 3,000: 2. Lindsay Wilson 10:36.91; 10,000: 1. Emily Peoples 44:12.50*, 2. Joy Chand 48:14.06.
