WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will travel to Lebanon Valley
for the first round of the 2011 Eastern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic field hockey tournament on
Wednesday. Game time is 2 p.m.
The Green Terror (10-7) earned the No. 8 seed and will take on
the top-seeded Flying Dutchmen (14-5) in the quarterfinals of the
eight-team tournament. McDaniel is making its first ECAC appearance
since 2003. Lebanon Valley is making its first ECAC appearance
since winning the title in 2004.
The winner of Wednesday's game will meet the winner of the
matchup between No. 4 Stevens (11-7) and No. 5 Wesley (12-9) in one
of Saturday's semifinals. The other semifinal will pit the winners
of the No. 2 Alvernia (13-7) and No. 7 FDU-Florham (12-9) and No. 3
Juniata (10-8) and No. 6 Ramapo (11-5). Matchups will take place at
the site of the highest remaining seed.
The championship game will take place between the two semifinal
winners on Sunday.
Senior Lindsay Riordon
(Monkton, Md./Hereford) leads the Green Terror attack this season
with 12 goals and 26 points. Sophomore Sarah Meszler
(Herkimer, N.Y./Herkimer) has seven goals and 14 points.
Senior Katie
Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean City) and freshman Natalie Price
(Elkton, Md./Elkton) lead the way with four assists each.
Senior Stephanie Thomson
(Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) has played 1155 minutes in goal this
season and has a 1.82 goals-against average and .771 save
percentage.
