Meszler tallies twice

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Bridgewater scored fewer than four minutes into the game but McDaniel countered with three goals for a 3-1 non-conference field hockey victory on Saturday.

Sarah Meszler (Herkimer, N.Y./Herkimer) tallied twice to lead the Green Terror (8-3), who finished with a 24-9 advantage in shots.

Kelly Ryan staked the Eagles (6-6) to an early lead.

After Joan Burleson found Ryan on a corner just 3:40 into the game, McDaniel found the backboard three times in the first half for its eighth victory of the season.

Paige Messersmith (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) scored off a corner at the 17:15 mark to even the game.

At the 20:10 mark, Meszler scored unassisted to give the Green Terror the lead before notching her first two-goal game of the season off a Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) assist just three minutes later.

Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) and Taylor Waddell each made three saves.

The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
