Box Score Cardinals tally five goals in first half, blanks McDaniel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Emma Dixon scored two goals to lead
Catholic to a 5-0 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field
hockey action on Saturday.
The Cardinals (2-0) finished with a 19-2 advantage in shots,
including 14-1 in a first half in which they tallied all five of
their goals.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made eight saves
in goal for the Green Terror (0-1), who was shutout in its season
opener.
Dixon finished an Abby Banholzer feed just 1:09 into the game to
open the scoring.
Nearly two minutes later, Catherine Mirsky finished off a
penalty corner to double the advantage.
Mary Swarthout stretched the lead to 3-0 before 10 minutes had
elapsed in the contest.
Dixon finished a Swarthout feed in the 19th minute before Emily
Sencindiver capped the scoring with 1:10 to play in the first
half.
McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener
at Bryn Mawr on Wednesday. Game time is 5 p.m.
