Koopman goes low to pace Green Terror
LITTLESTOWN, Pa. – Morgan Koopman (Finksburg,
Md./McDonogh) posted a career-low round of 77 to lead McDaniel to a
third-place finish at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational at Quail
Valley Golf Course in women's golf action on Sunday.
The sophomore finished second overall and was the top Division
III golfer. Mt. St. Mary's Sarah Roe topped Koopman by a
single stroke.
The Mountaineers won the team title with a combined score of
328. The host Bullets placed second with a score of 348, bettering
the Green Terror's 355 by seven strokes.
Koopman's round of 77 was the lowest by a McDaniel golfer
since All-American Kelly Cramp shot a 76 at the Kutztown
Invitational in 2005. Cramp fired a score of 77 or better no fewer
than 11 times in her career. Koopman is just the third Green Terror
golfer to post a round in the 70s, joining Cramp and Garnett
Pumprey on the elite list.
Jennie Weiner (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) turned in a
career-low round of 81 to finish fourth overall.
Jennipher Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) also
finished in the top 10 with a round of 86 to place eighth.
Katherine Restrepo (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing Area) rounded out
the Green Terror golfers with a round of 111 to finish tied for
21st.
McDaniel returns to action at the Dickinson Fall Invitational on
Sunday.
