Box Score Generals work overtime for 3-2 win over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kelly Tran had a hand in all three
Washington and Lee goals, leading her team to a 3-2 overtime win at
McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday.
Tran scored her second goal of the day 5:23 into the first extra
session to give the Generals (2-1) a victory in the first of their
two weekend games against Centennial Conference competition.
Four different players tallied points for the Green Terror
(2-4), including a Kaitlin Boerman
(Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) goal with 15:40 to play to force
overtime.
Tran found Lindsey Edmonds midway through the first half for a
1-0 lead.
Trailing by the same margin at the break, Danielle DeColli
(Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) redirected a Katie Jones
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) shot off a penalty corner in the
41st minute to even the game.
Tran responded nearly two minutes later off an Emmy Mathews
assist to give her team the lead once again.
Sarah
Meszler (Herkimer, N.Y./Herkimer) found Boerman in the 55th
minute for the equalizer once again.
The Green Terror finished with a 16-11 advantage in shots and
9-5 edge in penalty corners.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Eastern Mennonite on
Saturday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
