Bowman goes low on Sunday to lead Green Terror
HERSHEY, Pa. – Greg Bowman (Catonsville,
Md./Catonsville) fired a two-day score of 151 that
included a career-low 73 in the first round to lead McDaniel to a
third-place finish at the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Region Championship at
Hershey Country Club in men's golf action on Sunday and
Monday.
Competing in a field comprised of 15 of the top teams in the
region, the Green Terror slept on a six-shot lead after firing a
301 in Sunday's first round. On Monday, however, Wesley
matched its 307 from Sunday to vault McDaniel, which carded a 314,
by a stroke with its 614. Susquehanna fired a 306 to finish tied
with the Green Terror at 615 but was awarded second place on the
tiebreaker of five-player score from the final round.
Bowman and Jeff Smith (Elkridge, Md./Cardinal
Gibbons) shared the first-round lead with Nazareth's
Dylan Bedy with rounds of two-over par 73. Bowman
shot a second-round 78 to finish with a 151 and tied for third
while Smith carded an 83 on Monday to finish with a 156. Bowman
finished five strokes behind Washington & Jefferson's
Brad Cieslinski, who carded an even-par 71 on
Monday to vault from two strokes off the lead to the medalist
position. Bedy was second with a 149.
KJ Mazurek (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven)
finished tied with Smith in the overall standings, firing a 77 on
Monday after carding a 79 on Sunday.
Alex Campbell (Howell, N.J./Wall) finished one
stroke behind the duo with a 157, posting a 76 on Sunday and an 81
on Monday.
Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hill, Pa./Truman)
rounded out the McDaniel competitors with a 161 (84-77).
McDaniel returns to action at the Edward Jones Shootout hosted
by Carnegie Mellon on Saturday and Sunday. Action begins at 11 a.m.
on Saturday.
