Weiner finishes second overall in seven-team invite
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Jennie Weiner (Setauket,
N.Y./Ward Melville) fired a round of 82 on Sunday to
finish with a two-day total of 167 and lead McDaniel to a
second-place finish at its own spring invitational in women's
golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror finished with a two-round score of
706 to match the score posted by Kutztown. However, the Golden
Bears were awarded the team championship on the first tiebreaker
– Sunday's five-person score, edging McDaniel by two
strokes (94-96).
The Green Terror was third after Saturday's first round
with a 357, one shot ahead of the eventual champions but gave back
that one shot on Sunday.
New York University finished third in the seven-team field with
a two-round total of 716 (355-361) while SUNY Cortland was fourth
with a 727 (352-375).
St. John Fisher's Alex Battle won the
individual crown with a two-round total of 160 (79-81).
In addition to Weiner's second-place showing,
Morgan Koopman (Finksburg, Md./McDonogh) finished
in the top 10 with a score of 176. She followed up a first-round 91
with a second-roung 85.
Nicole Cristy (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr) finished
13th with a score of 181, carding an 89 on Saturday and a 92 on
Sunday while Val Saucier (Cockeysville,
Md./Dulaney) was tied for 14th with a 182 (92-90).
Anna Bencriscutto (Oro Valley, Ariz./Ironwood
Ridge) posted a 195 (99-96) while Amy Glock
(Lineboro, Md./Hereford) posted a 207 (106-101) as an
individual.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Muhlenberg
Invitational on Apr. 6. Tee time is 12:30 p.m.
