Box Score Boerman scores twice to lead Green Terror past York
YORK, Pa. – Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
scored twice to lead McDaniel to a 3-2 victory over York (Pa.) in
non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.
Boerman notched her first two-goal game of the season, scoring
both in the first 10:50 to stake the Green Terror (6-8) to an early
advantage a day after being shut out by conference-foe
Gettysburg.
Katie Dawkins paced the Spartans (8-8) with a goal and an
assist.
On the first shot of the game, Boerman blasted a hard shot for a
1-0 lead just 1:18 into the contest.
Dawkins crossed the ball to Jillian Brezgel, who finished on the
far post to even the game only 3:22 later.
Lindsay Riordon (Monkton, Md./Hereford) found Boerman for a 2-1
McDaniel advantage before 11 minutes had elapsed in the
contest.
A Katie Jones (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) penalty stoke 3:40
into the second half stretched the lead to 3-1 before Dawkins set
the final margin on a rebound shot in the 48th minute.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made nine saves
for the Green Terror, who were outshot 13-11 in the game.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on
Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
