Box Score Corson scores 1:15 into extra session for lone goal
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Katie Corson (Ocean View, N.J./Ocean
City) broke a scoreless deadlock just 1:15 into overtime to lift
McDaniel to a 1-0 Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey victory
over Dickinson on Wednesday.
In the first night game ever at Scott S. Bair Stadium, the Green
Terror (4-7, 2-3 CC) needed overtime for a second straight season
to defeat the Red Devils (2-10, 1-4 CC) despite carrying play
throughout much of the second half.
Ioni Kokdis made 18 saves for Dickinson, which was outshot 16-6
in the game and 11-1 after halftime.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake) made five stops
for McDaniel.
Off a Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) shot-and-save
in the 72nd minute, Corson was able to beat a sprawling keeper for
the game-winner.
The Green Terror returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday.
Game time is 12 p.m.
