Nichols paces Green Terror to open 2010
CARLISLE, Pa. - Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) finished ninth in the 60-meter hurdles to lead
McDaniel at the Gulden Relays hosted by Bucknell in men's indoor
track and field action on Saturday.
Nichols finished ninth in the event with a time of 9.39 seconds
to lead the Green Terror in the non-scoring event. He was also the
leadoff leg of the 4x60-meter shuttle hurdle relay that combined to
finish fifth in a time of 37.78.
Ken Polk (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) finished
14th in the triple jump, clearing 12.53 meters. He was also a
member of the shuttle relay team as well as the 4x200-meter relay,
which finished sixth in a time of 1:39.97.
Eric Spioch (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and
Rick Gonzalez (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills)
finished 12th (10.02) and 13th (10.69), respectively, in the 60
hurdles. Both teamed with Nichols and Alex Rieser
(Washington, D.C./McLean School of Maryland) in a program
record for the seldom-run shuttle hurdle relay.
Rob Kelvey (Westminster, Md./Westminster)
crossed 17th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:22.15.
Ron Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott
Key) and Matt Hale (Mechanicsville,
Md./Chopticon) finished 17th (4:48.48) and 21st (5:19.19),
respectively, in the mile.
Rieser and David Sampson (Philadelphia, Pa./Charter High
School for Architecture and Design) rounded out the
individuals, finishing 22nd (7.80) and 23rd (8.24), respectively,
in the 60 meters.
James Ways (Westminster, Md./Winters
Mill) joined Shriver, Kelvey and Hale on the 4x800-meter
relay with a combined time of 8:55.08.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Maryland Invitational
on Saturday.
