Five conference marks hit for Green Terror
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Rob Kelvey (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) finished eighth in the 3,000 to lead
McDaniel at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna in
men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
Kelvey crossed the line in a Centennial Conference-qualifying
time of 9:20.43 - one of five Green Terror athletes to hit
conference marks at the non-scoring meet.
Ken Polk (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) led the
way on the field side, placing 10th in the triple jump (12.04
meters) and 20th in the long jump (5.58) - both of which hit the
qualifying standard.
CJ Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) added
a 18th-place showing in the 200 with a time of 2:06.77 to qualify
for the conference championship.
Jake Nichols (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) rounded out the conference qualifiers with a time
of 8.71 in the 55 hurdles, placing 14th in the event.
The distance medley relay of Naper, James Ways
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill), Ron Shriver
(Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) and Kelvey placed
fourth (11:09.10) while the 4x200-meter relay was 10th (1:39.66).
The Green Terror returns to action at the Coach I Invitational
hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
