Naper, Kelvey place in top 12 to pace McDaniel
BALTIMORE, Md. - C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South
Carroll) finished in 10th place overall to lead McDaniel
to a fourth-place showing at the 2009 Baltimore Metro Meet in men's
cross country action on Friday.
The Green Terror registered 80 points among the fourth complete
teams. Johns Hopkins took the team title with 26 points. Morgan
State, despite having the top two individual finishers, was second
with 58 points. Loyola rounded out the top three with 71 points.
Naper completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 16:40.81,
finishing nearly seven seconds ahead of Rob Kelvey
(Westminster, Md./Westminster), who was 12th overall
(16:47.67).
Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) was the
next McDaniel runner across the line, finishing 36th in a time of
17:48.10.
Newcomers Ron Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott
Key) and Torin Lehmann (Sitka,
Alaska/Sitka) finished 41st (18:11.03) and 48th
(18:51.90), respectively, to round out the top five.
The Green Terror returns to action in its own home invitational
on Sept. 12.
