Box Score Blue Jays tally late in regulation to force overtime, down
McDaniel in extra session
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Liz DeMatteis scored 10
minutes, 35 seconds into the first overtime to lift Elizabethtown
to a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey
action on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays (6-2) trailed the Green Terror (2-5) by a goal
with 12:30 to play before Katy Boone tallied on a
scramble in front of the cage to force overtime and DeMatteis won
it in the extra session.
Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake)
staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 1:42 into the second, tallying
off a Mandy Pickard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll)
shot-and-save.
Elizabethtown finished with a 10-5 advantage in shots and a
16-11 edge in penalty corners.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake)
made four saves for the Green Terror while Liz
Hannegan had three for the Blue Jays.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on
Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
