Box Score Pickard evens game for McDaniel but Royals tally twice in final

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Hailee Rittle scored with
1:43 remaining in regulation to break a 1-all deadlock, helping
Eastern Mennonite to a 3-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference
field hockey action on Sunday.
Mandy Pickard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll)
drew the Green Terror (1-3) even with an unassisted goal in the
53rd minute but the Royals (1-4) notched their first win of the
season with a pair of goals in the waning moments.
After Rittle finished an Adriana Santiago feed
to give Eastern Mennonite the advantage, Jessica
Blanks finished off her team's 11th penalty corner of the
game with no time on the clock to set the final margin.
Jenna Longenecker finished an Alyssa
Derstine assist at the 3:15 mark to stake the Royals to an
early lead.
Eastern Mennonite finished with a 21-14 advantage in shots.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake)
made four saves for McDaniel. Becky Nolt had three
stops for the Royals.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference
opener at home against Franklin & Marshall on Thursday. Game
time is 5:30 p.m.
