Merrill goes low in afternoon round to key 612
MIDDLETOWN, Del. - Chris Merrill (Kingsville,
Md./Fallston) shot a career-low round of 72 in the second
round to finish with a two-round total of 153 in McDaniel's
third-place finish at the Wilmington Fall Classic in men's golf
action on Sunday.
As a team, the Green Terror finished third in the nine-team
field with a two-round total of 612 that included a 302 in the
afternoon round.
McDaniel finished one stroke behind Wesley - the only other
Division III team in the field. Wilmington won the one-day, 36-hole
tournament with a combined score of 594 (292-302).
Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, N.J./Truman)
led the squad with a two-round total of 152, finishing tied for
10th overall. He paced the squad in the morning round with a 75
before carding a 77 in round two.
Merrill followed up his first-round 81 with a one-over par 72 in
the afternoon for an 12th-place showing.
KJ Mazurek (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) and
Greg Bowman (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) each
carded two-round totals of 154 to finish tied for 14th. Mazurek
shot a 75 in the second round after his 79 in the morning round
while Bowman followed up his opening round 76 with a 78 in the
afternoon.
Alex Campbell (Howell, N.J./Wall) posted a
two-round total of 159 (80-79).
Playing as an individual, freshman Bryan Johnson
(Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) carded a 167 (82-85) in his
first collegiate action.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Tom Kinder Memorial
Invitational hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday and Sunday.
