Kelvey notches pair of top-five finishes to lead Green
Terror
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Rob Kelvey (Westminster,
Md./Westminster) placed third overall in the 3,000-meter
race and fifth in the 5,000-meter race to lead McDaniel to a
third-place showing at the 2009 Green Terror Challenge in men's
cross country action on Saturday.
In the 3K race, the Green Terror placed second behind Hagerstown
C.C. with 41 points. The squad was third in the 5K race with 47
points. Combined, McDaniel finished third with 88 points.
Hagerstown won the combined title with 52 points while York (Pa.)
was second with 86.
Kelvey completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:14 and
finished the 3K race in a time of 9:55.96.
C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll)
crossed the line seventh in both races, finishing the longer race
in 17:29.
Ron Shriver (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott
Key) was 15th in the 3K (10:27.49) race and 20th in the 5K
(18:17).
Russell Morin (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and
Matthew Hale (Mechanicsburg, Md./Chopticon) were
24th (18:38) and 25th (18:41), respectively, in the 5,000-meter
race.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Dickinson Long-Short
Invitational on Saturday.
