NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Elyse Massa (Wescosville,
Pa./Emmaus) shot matching rounds of 89 to finish second
overall and lead McDaniel to the team title at the 2009 Centennial
Conference (CC) women's golf championships at Olde Homestead
Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
The Green Terror grabbed its sixth CC title since 2002, posting a
two-round total of 721 to outdistance second-place Gettysburg by
nine strokes. McDaniel shot a round of 356 on Saturday to finish
the first round with a six-shot lead on the Bullets before posting
a 365 on Sunday to extend the lead by three.
Massa was one of four McDaniel players to earn all-conference
honors with her two-round total of 178 – four shots off the
pace of Gettysburg's Caroline
Nathan.
Valerie Saucier (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney)
finished fifth overall with a two-round score of 181, including an
88 on Saturday.
Jennie Weiner (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville)
and Nicole Cristy (Towson, Md.) rounded out the
All-CC performers with matching rounds of 182 to finish tied for
sixth.
Weiner shot an 88 on Saturday and a 94 on Sunday while Cristy shot
a 93 on Saturday and an 89 on Sunday.
Amy Glock (Lineboro, Md./Hereford) finished ninth
overall with a 185 (91-94).
