ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Elyse Massa (Wescosville,
Pa./Emmaus) shot a 41 on the front nine on Sunday to pace
McDaniel to a fourth-place finish at its own invitational in
women's golf action on Saturday and Sunday at the Bridges
Golf Club.
Scheduled to play a full 36 holes, the eight-team tournament was
shortened to 27 holes after a mid-afternoon thunderstorm rendered
parts of the course unplayable for a time that would have not
allowed the entire field to finish the remainder of the
tournament.
The entire field had completed the front nine on Sunday, allowing
those scores to count. Five teams were able to complete all 36
during the morning session but the back nine scores were wiped off
the board.
The Green Terror finished with a combined score of 561, posting a
round of 380 on Saturday before shooting a combined 181 on Sunday.
Allegheny won the team title with a 27-hole total of 494, shooting
331 to lead by 15 strokes after the first round of
action.
Kutztown was second (524) while SUNY Cortland finished third
(537).
Massa finished with a score of 130 to finish tied for eighth place
overall, firing a team-low 89 on Saturday.
Nicole Cristy (Towson, Md.) shot a 136, including
a round of 90 on Saturday to finish 18th
overall.
Val Saucier (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) fired a
142 over the 27 holes while Jennie Weiner (Stony Brook,
N.Y./Ward Melville) posted a score of 153.
Amy Glock (Lineboro, Md./Hereford) rounded out the
McDaniel competitors with a score of 156.
Tara Fredrickis (Fairfield, Pa./Fairfield) carded
