Polk, Dickman win events to lead McDaniel
CARLISLE, Pa. - Ken Polk (Berlin, Md./Stephen
Decatur) won the triple jump and took fourth in the long
jump to lead McDaniel at the Holiday Classic hosted by Dickinson in
men's and women's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror, who were competing with just two male athletes
and one female athlete, finished with 15 points on the men's side
and 10 points on the women's side.
Polk jumped 12.25 meters in the triple jump and 5.84 meters in
the long to qualify for the Centennial Conference championship in
both events.
Kelsey Dickman (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) won the
shot put with a toss of 11.03 meters, hitting the conference mark
in the event.
Rick Gonzales (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills)
added a 10th-place finish in the 55 hurdles with a time of 9.20
seconds, also hitting the conference qualifying standard.
The Green Terror returns to action at the Gulden Relays hosted
by Bucknell on Jan. 9.
