Box Score Blue Jays blank McDaniel to keep pace in race for top spot
BALTIMORE, Md. - Erica Suter recorded two goals
and an assist to lead No. 13 Johns Hopkins to a 3-0 victory over
McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on
Tuesday.
The Blue Jays (13-3, 8-1 CC) held the Green Terror (4-12-1, 3-6
CC) off the scoreboard for the 10th time this season to remain in a
tie for first place in the conference standings.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters
Mill) made 11 saves in goal for McDaniel.
Off a restart in the sixth minute, Johns Hopkins quickly pushed
upfield and Suter crossed to Erin Stafford in
front of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Just over a minute later, Suter finished a Sara
Tankard feed partially off a Green Terror defender to
double the advantage.
The Blue Jays carried play for the better part of the second
half, firing off 24 shots but only converted once. Off a Stafford
corner in the 58th minute, Suter placed a ball into the left corner
for a 3-0 lead.
Brittany Baer (Manchester, Md./Westminster)
recorded the lone first-half shot for McDaniel - a 30-yard blast
from the left wing in the 17th minute. Kelly Crawford
(Galloway, N.J./Absegami) had the Green Terror's
second-half attempt with a blast that sailed high.
McDaniel concludes the season at home against Haverford on
Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
