Box Score Green Terror improves to 4-1 after 3-2 overtime win at
Dickinson
CARLISLE, Pa. - Jessica Largent (Denton, Md./North
Caroline) scored just 2:35 into the first overtime period
to lift McDaniel to a 3-2 win at Dickinson in Centennial Conference
(CC) field hockey action on Tuesday.
The Green Terror (6-6, 4-1 CC) notched its fourth straight
conference victory to remain a game and a half out of first place
with a key CC battle at fourth-ranked Ursinus slated for Saturday
in Collegeville.
Lauren Kelly tallied with 10 minutes remaining
in regulation for the Red Devils (4-8, 2-3 CC) to force the extra
session.
Alyssa Sands staked Dickinson to an early 1-0
lead, tallying just 5:41 into the game.
Still trailing by that same score, Mandy Pickard
(Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) - the reigning CC Offensive
Player of the Week - tallied 13 minutes 48 seconds apart to give
her team the advantage.
After netting an unassisted marker at the 39:33 mark, Pickard
knocked home her team-leading eighth goal of the season off a
corner in the 54th minute. Kaitlin Boerman (Pasadena,
Md./Chesapeake) and Hop Battista (Crofton,
Md./South River) had the assists on the go-ahead tally.
Early in the first 15-minute overtime, Katherine Jones
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) collected a loose ball,
finding Largent on the post for the game-winner.
The Green Terror finished with a 17-6 advantage in shots and a
9-3 edge in penalty corners.
Stephanie Thomson (Glen Burnie, Md./Chesapeake)
made three saves for McDaniel while Amanda West
had 10 stops for Dickinson.
Game time on Saturday is 1 p.m.
